Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQ Page! Here are some questions we get asked a lot. If you have a question that isn't answered here, send us an email or give us a call and we'll be more than happy to help you.

  • How long is a session?
Session times vary! Generally, they are between 30 minutes and 1 hour. We are able to stay on-site for multiple sessions in a day if you wish. For example, we can remain at a primary school from 9am until 3pm to ensure as many classes as possible have the opportunity to meet the animals. Check the ‘Services’ tab for more info!
  • What animals do you have?
Check out our ‘Meet the Animals’ section to get to know all our amazing animal colleagues!
  • Which animals will come to my booking?
Not all of our animals will take part in a session. We cannot guarantee which animals will be able to come. Our animals are selected for each visit based on various factors, such as the venue, the lesson, their shedding patterns, health, the distance travelled etc. Their welfare is always our top priority! However, feel free to send us an email if there are particular animals you’d like to meet and we will do our best to accommodate! Similarly, if there’s an animal you really DON’T want us to bring, just call or email us to let us know and we will be sure to leave that animal at home.
  • What kind of venue do I need?
We can work around most venues. We have a venue checklist that we will send to you when you register your interest – all venues must meet the requirements in the checklist for animal welfare reasons and the safety of our keepers. If you would like any assistance filling this checklist out, we’d be more than happy to help! Go ahead and give us a call or send us an email.
  • What is the maximum capacity?
We recommend no more than 25 people per session. However, we can accommodate higher numbers with multiple shorter sessions rotating your guests or can do more than one session per visit. For more information, fill in the contact form, send us an email or give us a call.
  • Will the animals go to the toilet during the session?
Yes, probably! That’s nature for you. But don’t worry, we will clean up after our critters before leaving.
  • Do I get to hold or stroke the animals?
This depends on the animal and age-range of the participants. We have careful health and safety procedures to ensure the safety of the participants, animals, and keepers. The keepers will ensure that participants are able to be as hands-on as possible whilst maintaining a stress-free and safe environment for everyone.
  • Are the animals happy?
Animal welfare is our number one priority here at AnimalEd. Our animals are our colleagues, but most importantly are members of the family. We love them very much. Many have been rescued (for more information, please see our ‘Meet the Animals’ section!), and most of them were our pets long before we started AnimalEd. We provide the best husbandry and enrichment we can for all the animals in our care. We limit bookings and travel time to keep our animals comfortable, happy and to ensure they are not overworked and have plenty of time to rest. We are also well-versed in the behaviour of our animals and will never force an animal to participate in a session if they show disinterest or stress.
  • What about allergies?
Firstly, let us know! All allergies MUST be disclosed to us prior to our visit, even things such as food allergies - we will alter the visit to fit around these allergies. For example, if a participant has a nut allergy, we will ensure any treats we bring for our animals do not contain any traces of nuts. Depending on the allergy, some elements of the visit may not be possible for those affected. We will do our best to let everyone be as included as possible, but safety first!
  • What topics do you offer to schools?
We offer a variety of different topics! You can check out the ‘Services’ section for a summary of what we offer, and for more information please feel free to give us a call or drop us an email.
  • Can I book online?
Unfortunately, not through our website at this time. But you can give us a call, email animaleduk@outlook.com or complete the contact form in the ‘Contact Us’ tab and Charlie or Tiana will be happy to help you out.
  • Are you insured?
You bet! All activities will be risk assessed. As well as this, we hold an Animal Transport Licence, public liability insurance, and enhanced DBS checks. Risk assessments will be sent prior to your visit, and another assessment will be carried out after our arrival prior to the session beginning. Details of our licensing and insurance can be provided to you upon request. For more information on our personal qualifications, check out our ‘Meet the Staff’ section!
  • Can we take photographs?
Absolutely! We want your AnimalEd experience to be one to remember, so feel free to snap away! We just ask that you please turn the flash off so the animals don’t get spooked.
  • What are your terms and conditions?
Check out our terms and conditions here!
  • Are you Covid Secure?
Safety is always a priority and we always follow guidelines laid out by local councils. We have a Covid-19 Risk Assessment, limited availability (visiting only one venue per day), sanitised equipment, and social distancing measures in place. Keepers will also be subject to temperature checks before every visit. If you would like to discuss this further, please give us a call or send us an email!
